My first exhibition

June 2025 is a very special month for me.

My first exhibition is currently on display at the ESNZ showroom in Bad Nauheim. For four weeks, my originals and photographs will be hanging in a beautiful space that lends new meaning to my work. The opening took place on June 2nd – and wow, I was so excited! Not only because I'd been working intensively for weeks toward this moment and painting new pieces until the very last minute – but especially because I was able to witness how many people came especially to see my art and celebrate with me.

The fact that this exhibition is so special for me also lies in my past.

In 2012, I began working freelance creatively, initially alongside my day job. I uploaded my images online to Society6, a then-new print-on-demand art shop. When the first sales came in in 2013 and developed into a nice side income in the following years, I was firmly established in this field. People from all over the world ordered my motifs as inexpensive posters – but I had nothing to do with production, shipping, or customer contact; the sales often appeared only as numbers on the shops' invoices. I rarely found out where my art ended up and what meaning it had for the buyers. Only by chance or targeted searches on Instagram could I discover my images in other people's homes – and that was a great feeling every time.

A lot has changed in recent years—not only in my artistic expression, but also in the world of online art shops in general. The market is now full of similar offerings, there are permanently sales going on and sales figures for individual artists are declining. More and more motifs are being copied or generated by design departments using artificial intelligence... But I firmly believe that every trend has a countertrend and that there are still many people who want to know the artist, the story behind the art, and something special.

Especially in these times, more and more people are longing for something real.

It's fitting that my style has evolved – and at the same time, the desire to create something authentic and special has grown. Works of art that you can touch, where you can feel the brushstrokes on the canvas. Sand textures, wooden frames, high-quality textured artist paper, or self-made stretcher bars – all of these things play a key role in my work today. And I'm incredibly happy that I can now show my abstract paintings in such a special setting.

The personal reactions to my works, especially during the opening, gave me a lot of self-confidence. Confidence that I was on the right path. Of course, I often doubted whether I even had a chance in the crowded art market. But what else could I do? There's no alternative for me but to be creative and try to capture my world on canvas or in a photograph. Staying true to yourself isn't always easy. Finding your own voice, your own expression—that's a process. But especially in preparing for this exhibition, I felt that I had no choice but to show only what truly represents me. Paintings in which I didn't see myself were left out. At almost 42, I'm still on my creative journey—but I've never been so close to myself and the essence of my art.

The exhibition in the ESNZ showroom runs until June 28.
