Newsletter #4 - Encounters, winter blues and anticipation

It's almost the weekend, and I'm sitting in my office, gazing at the sun-kissed snow on the roofs of the Sprudelhof. I wish it could stay like this, I think briefly, because I really long for spring to arrive. Not just because of the temperatures and the lack of vitamin D, but also because January and February are strange months, especially for me as a freelancer.

Is everyone still hibernating or on a ski vacation? It's quieter than usual, so the well-attended opening of the current group exhibition at the ENSZ Showroom was a real highlight for me. Abstract paintings and photographs by five artists are on display here until Saturday, February 28th. And since I enjoy being there so much, I'm "on duty" here on Friday afternoons, seeing who drops by. You can find more about the opening, my encounters so far during the exhibition, and an invitation to the closing event in this blog post.

But of course, there's more to do: photographing new works, editing those photos, posting them online, and promoting them on Instagram—the latter being a recurring task that constantly presents challenges.

At every exhibition and every encounter there, however, I've realized that I enjoy talking about my pictures, explaining them, and thus building a more personal connection between the viewer and the artwork. Therefore, I'll now be presenting my pictures in short videos on Instagram and sharing some of their creation. I'm starting with the artworks "Silent Drift 1 and 2." Three brand-new pictures were also created specifically for the group exhibition, which I've linked below.

Finally, I owe you an explanation for my vague hints at the end of my last newsletter, which I've been asked about several times. I took this as a sign that my texts are actually being read—which I'm very happy about :) And the fact that I'm starting to do this again is also a good sign. At least I can now confirm that I'll be exhibiting at ARTMUC in Munich from May 1st-3rd - this art fair is Bavaria's largest art event with over 160 artists, galleries, and collectives. The confirmation is in, the contract signed. So, the coming weeks will be dedicated to preparations for this event, and I'll share more details soon – in my next newsletter.

Best regards, and hopefully see you soon!
